Engine problems?? The Stage IV is a whole new top end. Only thing not included is between the cases, ie. crank, etc.

I have gone back into the engine and tried three different cams. the SE 260 makes good HP at high RPM but doesn't offer much low end torque.

So I've been trying various cams with smaller intake close number. I want that high rpm pull but low end torque for two up riding.

I wish I could have both.

Hardy,

In my personal opinion you are wasting time and $$$$ using screamin chicken cams, take a look at HQ or Wood's stuff. You are going throught the same issues I did. When I was running SE cams, I found the 251 to be have the strong TQ & Hp.

Good luck.

Used SE 251's on my MVA Headed 58mm TB'ed 103 "Stage 4" and just pulled them out, installed DME 575 L camset, re tuned, picked up 4 hp(that's too close to argue over) and 10 tq. The intake close is 4 degrees earlier and the dur is 4 degrees longer, has better throttle response and didn't seem to lose any on the top but just got it done this Sat.

Hey guys,

I'm researching this kit and posted to the Engine/Fuel/Intake/Exhaust forum. I didn't see this discussion until now, otherwise I would have just added here since it's about the same kit I'm interested in.... I don't know how to move my post from there to here, so here's the link to my input and questions...

OK, I may have missed somehting in this post, but, what is the best cam for good low/midrange with the stage IV kit?

I have a local guy putting togther a kit for me and I just want to make sure I am headed in the right direction. I have ridden 3 or 4 of his 103 kits but this is the first stage IV he has done9that I know of)....I guess most didnt opt for the larger TB in his prior builds.

He isnt going to buy the "kit" but "seperates" and he said he was going to use a different cam but we haven't gone into detail beyond that.

I have Rinehart true duals and will be using a power commander.

Thanks for the advice guys!

Tman Performance cams' TR-590 would do very nicely in that combination. You should be at a 10.5:1 CR with the State IV and that's right where the 590 likes to be. I've had one in my Stage IV and loved it.
