I am wondering if the people who installed this kit, stayed with the SE Tuner?

You may look into an oil cooler too. More HP = more heat

I can tell you that when those 110 and the MVA heads are used that one needs to pay very close attention to the valve guide seals as mine were leaking profusely in less than 2500 miles, its probably a good idea to change them before install to the vitons. I have a buddy that had same issue. Also they make nice hp but the tq #'s will probably be lower than the hp and the sweet spot will not be down low even with the 251's , less so with the 260's. My buddy took his 110's off and put ported stockers on and did notice an increase in low end tq but it did fall off on the upper end when compared to the 110's and no cam change. No free lunch, pick your poison.

You didn't mention anything about changing exhaust. You'll obtain much better figures with a good aftermarket exhaust like the D&D 2 into 1 Fat Cat Boss. You might very well be disappointed if you do the engine upgrade without the exhaust upgrade.

I had your exact same engine upgrade done to mine last summer. It dyno'd 114 hp and 110 tq. My only issue was the 260 cam doesn't really come on until high in the rpm range. If I had only known, I would have gotten another cam with an earlier intake closure. I do a lot of two-up riding lower in the rpm range than where the 260 works best.

If you are interested I have a TR-590 cam for sale that will work quite nicely in your setup.

Questions?

Default 103 stage 4

i just Dynoed my 103 stage 4 in 09 SG and was very pleased I used the stock head pipe and tried 3 different Muffler combos and was really shocked at the results,
1st the CFR racing mufflers- the sound by far the best but were very poor in the low end, the had a stumble that we could not get rid of even after 20 hrs on dyno and tried the stock TB etc, Next we put on a set of thundercones, again love the sound and were good not great across the board, the seem to lay down a bit at the top! TQ was ok
Then we put on a set of V@H monster ovals, I hate the sound, sound like a puss bike but the dyno does not lie 110 HP and 107 TQ on 89 octane pump gas, bike has SE pro tuner and heavy breather as well, and I am using the SE semi syn oil, I am thinking of trying the new V@H high output mufflers to see if the will sound better and perform as advertised, V@H states that top end number will go up 3-4 hp but TQ could lag at low end
I know what you guys are thinking change the stock head pipe! I have seen 2 other guys do the same package and one used the V@H head pipe and made 1 hp over the stock head pipe that is alot of money for 1 HP, maybe a 2-1 but baggers look stupid with 1 pipe, just need duals in my opinion! anyway anyone using the V!H higoutputs please chime in,

Brett Rahn,

If you haven't already, take a look at the D&D Performance Fat Cat Boss (2 into 1). Not only is it one of the better performing exhausts for our engines, you can buy a ghost pipe for the left side of the bike to even things out. The drawbacks to this exhaust is that its loud. Even the wrapped version is loud.......and I like loud.

Good luck on getting your engine exactly how you want it. Sounds like you have access to dyno time and that's the most valuable asset you can have.

The Stage IV 103 kit part number 27517-08A includes the SERT module. That said, if I were to do it over again, I would have tried to change to a Thundermax tuner eventhough it would have been more expensive.

If you don't mind, how much was your Stage 4? 20 hours of dyno time...wow!

The cost of the parts for a Stage IV is in HD's Screamin' Eagle Racing Parts catalog for $2,400.00.

The kit includes cylinders, 110+ Heads, high compression - 10.5:1 forged aluminum pistons matched to the heads, SE260 cam, Perfect Fit push rods, 58 mm TB, SERT, automatic compression releases and an addtional clutch spring to handle the increased power.

I agree.
Have seen carbed 88"ers go low-mid 90"s hp and over 100 ft/lbs with a Wood 6.
Have also witnessed 103"s here, that square off in the high teens, banging on the 120/120 door.
Our 107"ers consistantly will show mid-uper 120's hp and torque.
100/100 is not a big task with a 103".
