Pingle fuel valve for an 02 FatBoy
I'm looking for 1st hand professional advice. My petcock is leaking on an 02 FatBoy (stock carb @ the moment, replacement valve @ $27). I'm looking at an upgrade to a Pingle fuel valve. As you know, the stock petcock is vacum operated. Pingle makes an OEM replacement (1311-CV @ $175) and they offer it as a non-vacum (1311-CH @ $95). The "H" in the # just means hex, it's just the design. So, just how important is it to have the vacum petcock (safety fuel cut off, yes) vs the manual valve which I will probably forget to turn off most of the time. I know that the float could get stuck or whatever and just make a big mess. I've had that happen over the years on a few other bikes. So, what's your experiences with this situation and what would you suggest ??? Thanks. alwatts

Just had my PETCOCK changed to PINGLE after 95 build for better flow. They just close the vacumn line down, no issues at all. My stock petcock was failing, letting fuel in carb even when motor was shut off. Only suppost to let fuel in carb while engine running, drawing fuel in carb by way of vacumn. Out with the old and in with the new PINGLE, much better valve.

HPFatBoy, Since you have a FatBoy, does the Pingle valve get in the way of your choke **** (something that I read) and are you using the stock fuel line ??? Is the stock fuel line supertight on the Pingle? Which part# did you get for your bike??? How about a nice close up pic? Thanks. alwatts

I replaced my fuel valve today. I ended up getting a GOLAN, part# 76-312F Brass @ $81. They do offer this in a chrome version. Plenty of clearence for everything. It has detents for on-off-reserve. Looks and feels good. The stock fuel line was a little tight going on. The positions are forward=on, middle=off and rear=reserve. Thanks!!!!! I'll post a few pics tomorrow. Recommended!!!!! alwatts

I have the Pingle hexed myself and it works perfectly. Like HPFatboy said, they
just plug the vacuum on the carb. No big deal. Just make sure you get the right one
for your bike model. Mine has the fuel outlet pointing towards the front of the bike.
Yours might require a different outlet position. I believe there are 3 different positions.
Lets say I go out to a restaurant or something, I leave it in the on position. However,
overnight I put it in the off position. You get used to it.
