Comments on 96 to 103 build results

Hello,
I will most likely go with a 103 build this month. Will have Baisley heads, and probably cast pistons ( comments pro-cons here). I wanted to know what others impression with their builds in this range have to say after having it done.
I will also go roller rockers, and stay with 575 cam, and Fatcats that I have.
I only have the SE clutch spring, has anyone experienced and clutch issues with the Factory HD clutch?
Thanks,
mgm

I asked the local professional about the cast pistons today with my build and he said don't waste my money on forged pistons. He's doing the heads incl. Ferrea F0046 1.9 intake valves and Ferrea f0045 1.625 exhaust with .050" decked and said there will be no issue with valve relief in the cast units.
I'm still searching cam selection since I can't get the .530 lift I'm looking for.

Thanks all for input. Thanks for the clutch tip too.
I doubt that I will be hitting the 6200 rpm that often, just want a little more power for passing the 18 wheel guys and staying ahead of the cagers on the freeway.
Sent my seats out to get gel inserts in them, so the comfort level should be better for those 200 mile rides. :-)
Also, feel free to add personal reports, impressions of after the 103 build for your ride, and smile per mile factor.

Is yours the one with the video posted earlier? It would have been so much better without the wind noise in it but it was great to hear it. One thing I like about the lower lift cams is how they don't let eveyone know you're running a hot rod until it's too late, lol.
That 44 mag cam has some good #s, I was comparing the cams on the Woods website and like that one a lot. What holds me back on it is the timing. What I've been looking for has a shorter duration and timing is 8 degrees faster.
Here's what I want: 16/44 - 44/16 240/240 .530/.530 104/104
It's an old evo grind that was made by the company that currently makes the Screaming Eagle cams for Harley. That cam was THE cam and it seems nothing is coming close. Even the Screaming Eagle cams jump all around those #s without matching up.

Anyone want to chime in as to their " after" build experiences - that their bike runs better in such and such a way, better this or that etc.
Also, will the stock MoCo throttle body work that well, going to a 103 build ( gotta check Zippers Performance to see specs on 575 cams- I have and will use for the 103 build, and or do others change up to a bigger t-body; my compression will be 10:1.
Thanks again all. Mark
