Opinions wanted on 103 build

Good luck with that! The best I have pulled off with my 9:1 ultra is 104 lbtq with a woods 6H w/4* adv. gear. Thats with a CVO 103 head with 1.94 intake valve. The MVA heads have huge ports and valves so I couldn't imagine the combination pulling any good low end torque. But it will fly once you get it wound up!! To pull off 115 lbtq you are going to need at least 9.8:1 compression and a street ported head and the right cam.

I guess I should have asked this a little differently. I fully understand the difference between SE parts and having my heads reworked. What I am looking to know is if anyone has had success building a 103 with good heads and cams and got around 105 HP and 115 ft-lbs of torque at 9:1 compression. It makes no difference on the SE vs HQ parts my dealer wants to put in 9:1 pistons and says they can get the performance I want. I haven't read anyone getting these results at 9:1 compression.
yes it can be done
baisley heads and tw6 cam.

I totally disagree with the statement above. There are MANY people on this forum running more than 10:1 compression, AND have reliability. Don't get me wrong, Rebel78, we don't live/ride in 130* heat (like you), but you can definitely run over 10:1 and have reliability. Just my .02

compression
I run 10.8 to 11.2 to 1 all the time on pump gas w/o pinging. Pinging is a result of heat and pressure, take the heat away with VE and you can up the pressure. Ask Tim Brindley in Arizona, he's running a 131" Hypermotor at 11.6 to 1 on 87 octane and has 156 horse. I would be sceptical of those numbers at 9:1 except for one cylinder head out there at that cubic inch.
