Default 88 vs 96, are the jugs and pistons the same?

So will 96 jugs and pistons work on my 04, 88b motor? are they the same? or better?
Thanks....

It was my understanding that the only difference is that the 96 is a stroked 88. But I'm not confident enough to say 100 percent that that is correct.

yes they will work. But you will still have a 88" motor. What gives the 96" motors the extra inches is the stroke. But The juggs and pistons are the same.

The 96 pistons have the pin hole moved to work with the lengthened stroke. Don't think they will work with the shorter 88 connecting rods.

The jugs are the same, the pistons are differant and so are the heads.

The jugs are the same but the pistons are not. A 4" stroke (88) piston has a different wrist pin location compared to a 4 3/8" stroke (96) piston. If you used a 88" piston on a 96" engine it would hit the heads and not let the engine turn over.

Thanks guys...my fatboy is starting to rattle, time to put a tighter set of jugs and pistons in, thought I had just e-bay some re-bored cylinders and go with flattop SE cast pistons.
