Any one running the fat cat std. baffle on a 113. On my 103 it had a torque dip at 3-3500 rpm. My build is 113 S/E CI HTCC CNC heads reworked for 20 degree pistons 50mm TB TW-7 cam. Any thought as if the torque dip goes away with more CI.

What model bike do you ride? I've read that the torque dip only happens with the touring models.

Yep touring. Why should the touring model have a torque dip and not the other models? I'm still trying to figure that out. With more room to make the muffler longer it should perform better

The torque dip is a tuning issue that has to worked out. Interestinly, my HQ build as no torque dip after a small carb adjustment, but i had a HQ ignition with reworked timimg curve.

It doesn't make sense to me either. I just read a few posts about it while researching the Fat Cat. It can't be much of a dip, since the owner's of touring models that have a Fat Cat, are very happy with it.

Default D&D torque dip

2007 FLHX 103" build with D&D Fatact standard baffle.

Yes there is a small torque dip. Mine dips 2 1/2 lb/ft at 3800 RPM. It actuall starts at 3500 and is gone by 3900. It is very gradual on the dyno printout and imperceptable for the rider. It goes from about 100 lb/ft to about 98 lb/ft and then back up to 100 /lb/ft. I don't know how you could feel it or detect it was there if you did not have a dyno.

What are the thoughts for the 95"

Thanks,

Mike.
PhilM did some testing last year for D&D with the Fatcat going between the standard baffle and the quiet baffle, this was on his 98" build he had at the time.

He ended up finding that the quiet baffle made slightly better numbers then the standard baffle.

To me, having had both baffles, I like the quiet baffle's sound much better. It's a deeper, non-blatty sound.

Default Fat Cat

Quiet baffle= little more TQ on dyno. Perf. baffle= alot louder. Can you feel the difference??? Personal preference. I've heard there are alot of the standard baffles laying on shelves as people opted for the Q/B, especially if you leave your house for work in the early AM.
