Default Exhaust questions?????

I just got my fullsac conversion on my 02 rk w/ screaming eagle slip ons and before the true dual conversion they had more a deep throaty sound. Now they seem more higher pitch so to speak but sound decent at idle as soon as you start to get on it they dont sound the same. My questions are, is this because I have no type of tuner or is it just the type of mufflers? Also what is the best deep throaty sounding mufflers out there as I want loud but throaty as well? Thanks in advance for any input

David

Loud & throaty, I believe you have 3 choices from personal experience. Thunderheader, D&D fatcat & bassani road rage. All 2 into 1's. I'd have to say the Thunderheader is the best for a throaty deep sound though!

Less overall exhaust system internal volume would account for this change in sound quality.

You have no type of tuner? You absolutely need one. One which will allow you to tune the two cylinders separately. You have altered the balance between the way the cylinders flow. See http://i33.tinypic.com/1zps6lu.png where I compare the engine airflow tables in the EFI controller, between the stock "touring" exhaust and "dual" pipes.

These tables determine the amount of fuel sent to the injectors. See how not only the values change around in each cylinder, but particularly how the front/rear balance changes? I understand Fullsac says you don't need to make any tuning changes, but looking at the EFI programming values between the two systems, I have to disagree with them.

Well, the SERT (if you can still find one) or its true replacement, the TTS tuner, would definitely be the more comprehensive way to go, but the Power Commander would be much better than the Fuelpak for several reasons and may well be all you'd need. There are a couple downsides to the PC relative to the SERT, with the main one being that you must find a place for it on the bike. I'm assuming, of course, that you have a Delphi EFI on that year bike?

TTS would be the most efficient way to go it seems that little by little you will be working your way up to a larger engine and if you purchase the TTS you will be ahead of the game by a ;long shot.
you never stated where you were from mwe can also try and help you find a good tuner also .....

I got my TTS from the guy who goes by "herkobagger" here. You can find his contact information on the "dealers" page at the manufacturer's website, http://mastertune.net/ where he's "Flying W".

He's from down south Indiana, so you'd have to pay sales tax, but I didn't mind doing that.

A good alternative is "HDMD" in that "dealers" page. He's "Doc1" here.
