Default 2005 Superglide oil leak

My 05 Super has developed an oil leak near the bottom rear of the engine. Drops about a tablespoon when I stopped. Only 12,000 miles on the clock. Do you think this will be expensive?

you will have to varify exactly where its comming from first.

if its the cases, Yes it will be expensive, hopefully it is just and oil presure sending unit or cam cover gasket which is not a big deal.

May also be leaking from one of the oil fittings on the right side of the engine, and pooling at the trans mount. Get some simple green in a spray bottle, and a soft bristled scrub brush, Clean the area really well, rinse with water and dry. Start the bike and let it idle, with it clean, it should be fairly easy to see where the leak is coming from.

Is it a blond motor or black?

I replaced that shaft seal awile ago. Had to replace a bum stator, thought I would fix my leaks as well. The seal I go at the dealership looked like a 3 cent o-ring, glued to the bushing. I figured, what the hell and installed it anyway. Here is an incredible HD post showing directions, and a quality looking seal. My $.03 seal is already leaking again. Get teh Cometic if you have a bad seal.

Read this instructional post. One of the best ones I have seen. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touring-models/89699-got-an-electrical-problem-need-help.html

Gonna have to watch this one. I have an 05 LR with 10k and the same problem. I want to blame it on the Redline Shockproof that I changed back to M1 since that is a common myth.
