Default 07 RK with hard starts

A few months back I had a SE 110 big bore kit installed with SE 260 cams on my 07 Road King and had it dynoed out using a SERT, came out to 90.25 hp and 110.75 tq. The bike runs grate and I love the throttle responses and the extra tq. Here is my problem. When the bike is cold it fires right up with no problems. After a short run, ie gas station, gym, store it is hard to start. Once the bike is warm and has set for say, 10 to 15 minutes its had to start. The starter is justa firing away and the engine will not turn over. Sometimes I get a pop and some smoke out of the air intake. Most of the time, after several tries and catching all the eyes in the parking lot the engine fires up. Other times I have to wait 10 to 15 minutes more for it to crank. I took it to the shop, they replaced a crank sensor. Still does it, though not as much. I’ve read a little about checking the compression in the jugs but still don’t understand , since the bike has an auto compression release on each head. Can someone tell me more about this and if this has happened to anyone else what was the fix. Can this destroy my engine? Thanks for any help.. O, and just one more thing I do not hit the throttle and while trying to start the bike, the shop thought that may be the problem. Again thanks for any help.
