Lightbulb Challenge for the experienced mechanics

Would a cracked pinion gear cause heavy engine vibration throughout the RPM band?
Also, what would cause a engine RPM deceleration vibration when you pull in the clutch coming to a stop sign?

Any takers?

Has cam been replaced? incorrect clearances could crack pinion or something worse like crank runout, brg failing.I would dig alittle deeper before possibly ruining cases.Any of these could cause the vibs at all rpm ranges.

Lets look at the obvious first...have you checked your front engine mount?

Cam is stock, and front mtor mount was replaced about 2 months ago. After feeling the vibrations, I stopped riding it until correction could be found.

Two problems maybe, but the front mount wont cause the pinion gear to crack. What kinda mileage on bike?

What cracked the pinion gear is probably what is causing "all" of your vibration.

Maybe I misunderstood - I didn't think he knew for sure the pinion gear was cracked.

what about too much pinion run out causing too much stress on the gears. .. have you checked pinion run out..
how is the oil pump working????

I agree that the cracked pinion gear is likely the result from the cause of the vibration. Runout checks would be first area to look. There isn't enough mass in the pinion gear to cause vibration.
