Default Dynojet Power Commander

I pick up my new 05 Heritage Soft tail Classic on April 15. Man I can't wait. I talked to the Harley dealer about installing Vance and Hines pipes " Long shots staggered". The were suggesting installing Python Pipes with a stage 1 kit. They said that unless I was going to a 103ci that a dynojet power commander would be a waist of money. Can anyone provide some input on this. I was informed by others that a power commander was the only was to go. Also, the Harley dealer would sell and install the power commander.

I have the same type of question here... All I'm going to do to my '05 RKC is a stage 1 filter kit, and Vance & Hines or SEII slip-ons. I'm wondering if the Pwercommander is the way to go, or just have the dealer do a re-map? It looks like cost is close for me. I used to be sponsered by Dyno-Jet, so I still have some "ins" there. The PCIII would cost me about $200. If I'm not likely to be changing the bike after the initial changes, is it worth going with the PC? Any help appreciated, Chris

From what I have been told, python pipes are built by V&H. In the case of my bigshots, the difference was billet end caps versus no end caps on the python. Thus the savings. We installed a power commander on my friends RKC. The advantage of the power commander is the ability to fine tune. In addition to downloading the maps from the CD, you can fine tune by using the buttons on the power commander box. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the only thing that the dealer download does is to give the engine the ability to rev to 6200 rpm. With the power commander you can have perfect fuel delivery.

Actually the remap from HD does increase your fuel delivery as well as timing and also up's the rpm limit but the power commander will give you the opportunity to do more adjustment's so you can fine tune to where it's either worse [&:] or better. the Power comm is around 290buck's where a remap is 150, if I wasn't going to do any mod's for sure,I would just go with a remap. just my .02 cent's.

You are exactly right. The dealership always puts down the power commander. They want to soak you for the Harley tuner. By the way, cyclespot is great to deal with. Lowest prices anywhere.

Thank's for the information. I think I will go with the Vance and Hines longshots "HS" and the dynojet power commander.
