Default SE Heavy Breather w/96ci & V&H pipes

I just bought an '09 Street Bob with Vance & Hines short shot staggered pipes, SE Heavy Breather, SE Pro Super Tuner and a few other things. When all my parts finally arrived and I called the shop to make an appointment for install, they said the Heavy Breather was "too much" for a stock 96ci motor, but I still need one larger than the stock air cleaner to give the pipes enough air. They said the "big sucker" air cleaner is too much air for a stock 96ci motor too.

My question is...can't the Super Tuner map the bike for the intake/exhaust combo I've already purchased?

Thanks,

I'd suggest going to a different dealer. The SE heavy breather is not too much for a 96". Get it tuned on a dyno by someone that knows what they are doing.

I say Bullsh1t! The heavy breather doesn't push air in, the engine will only take what it needs. Use the heavy breather, and deal with a different shop as stated above.

The throttle body opening is only so big... that is going to limit the amount of air you get.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard......well, maybe the THE dumbest, but definitely still a very dumb thing. Put the damn thing on, and ride it.

I ran my Heavy Breather on my 96" for about 6 months before I went to the 103". It was fine....I didn't even have a SERT- only V&H Big Radius, Stage I download, and the Breather. Congrats on the mods!

By too much, he meant it is way bigger than it needs to be, which means nothing really. That thing could almost feed 300 ci motor. Tb will be the bottle neck in the system way before the breather will.
