Default Lean or Rich - TC96 decel popping fix ?

Fitting XIED's to my 07 Fatboy with rush 1.75 slip ons and oem AC has reduced the decel popping by 30% but there is still popping whilst my mate's 05 with V&H short shots has none. Checking the joins there is some a very slight light brown misting at the join with the down pipes but no black soot which I would expect if there were a leak. Original clamps were used though tightened well up.The bike runs well though with decel popping on the overrun , if changing right down to 1st or second from speed there is no popping just a droning noise. What's the next step . I'm confused as to whether it is lean or rich as popping may be due to either and will installing a KN AC kit make any difference and though no obvious leak should I look to some sealant at the join . Or of course accept that with the slip ons there will always be some popping ? Any advice on these points is appreciated. Thanks. Jon

Could be burning off excess fuel left in throttle body, and yes installing a K&N filter and back plate could very well help. Original "torca" clamps should be fine if torqued to specs.

Ultimately, the pop is fuel burning in the headpipe, so it's a "rich" thing. But whether it's just too rich or so lean as to cause a misfire gets us back to not knowing for sure, especially from this side of the pond, if you know what I mean.

If you go with the K&N airbox replacement, you should go with some form of active fuel management, most all of which make the IEDs unnecessary for one reason or another.
