Personally 2 into 1 is only way to go but thats and opion from speed freak.more bottom end tq and just seem to run better all around.Im thunder header guy my self but there lots of good 2 into 1 s to choose from

 

I live in MA, I was told by the service manger at Seacoast Harley in NH that if I install a 2-1 Thunderheader or Fat Cat system that I will exceed the decibel requirements and will not be able to obtain a MA inspection sticker....do you think this is true? I don't know what the decibel restrictions are for my state.

 

Ask a Mass dealer about it. Take it to one that aint gonna give you a problem I have yet to hear anyone in mass say they've had a problem with pipes at inspection.

 

called a couple of MA dealers. They said if they have baffles there would be no problem. Now does anyone one know if Thunderheader or Fat Cats come through with baffles??

 

thunder header have baffle.They are there dont make it quite but they are there and they help it work better.
I was told theat if you roll the edges over towards out side of pipe with steel bar and hammer they have beter torque curve.I did mine and they seem to have stronger mid range.

 

I just bought the Supertrapp Supermegs on E-bay for $559.00. The dealer wanted $680.00. I'm scheduled to do the stage 1 (SERT, A/C, 2:1 Supertrapps) in 2 weeks. I'm also changing the cams and having the 211 cams installed. I really wanted more low-mid torque and a better sound without being too loud. The Supermegs are fully tunable and can be dialed in to your bike. It gives your tuner more to work with. Because they are tunable, you can adjust where the powerband is and also the sound level. I'm having the dealer run my bike on the dyno before the work is done and then dyno tuned. That way I can see the before and after results. I'm told that I can expect over 100 ft lbs of torque. The only thing is that now I'll only have a pipe on the right side. I guess you can't see that when you're riding anyways. I really researched the differences between the true duels and 2:1's and this was my conclusion.

 

I put Rinehart TD's on my bike almost 3 years ago and haven't considered changing them: with an SE a/c and tune the performance over stock was very significant. Also, Eastern Performance Cycles usually has the best price on them--paid $599 with free shipping, but the price has gone up some since then, of course.

For the kind of riding I do, whatever low end torque penalty I pay is irrelevant and probably couldn't recognize it with my butt dyno which is pretty insensitive.

But cosmetics, sound, performance, price, etc. are all very individual choices--good luck with your choice.
