Default Carb Jet/New Carb Suggestions

OK I have a 2004 Night Train with the V&H Big Radius Exhaust, K&N air filter, 95" Screamin' Eagle kit with Screamin' Eagle Heads, Andrews 211 Gear Driven Cams and the stock carb. I would like some suggestions on Jet Sizes. Should I increase both pilot and main or just the pilot? Also should I switch to a Mikuni or stick with stock. I searched around but found very little in the form of recommendations for my particular setup. All suggestions are very welcome and I appreciate all advise. Thank you.

Sorry cant recomend any jet sizes as i dont know where you live and all the particulars of the build. You can tune it yourself to get in the ballpark, but always best to bring to a dyno tuner that knows whats he doing...

Here is a link that will help

Default Thank you!

Thank you very much for the link. Very good information. I live in Cheyenne, Wyoming where the elevation is 6,062 feet. Can you give me a ballpark of where to start as far as pilot and main jet sizes? That way I can purchase a few of each to work with when I'm tuning using the methods described in your link. Thanks Bagger!

To answer part of your question, I went to a Mikuni for a while, and yes it ran well, but it gave the bike a feeling of being too connected to the rear wheel. Lots of compression braking. I recently sent my CV carb to Dakota Kid for a rework and I can't say anough about his work. The bike has so much power now. Yes I only get 35-38 MPG 2 up but it gives me the performance I'm looking for. His work like Bob Woods is first rate.

go with the stock main 190 and bump your slow to a 46 (you need to order it thru dennis kirk or someone similar as it is not avail. thru harley and is a reemed out 44) shim your needle .030-.050 and adjust your air fuel screw ~2 turns out from lightly seated. If you want even better performance go with a n65c or n72s needle. At your elevation you can be smaller on the jets vs someone at sea level. You could probably drop your main down to 185 for best wot power.

I have always had great luck with S&S Carbs. For your application a Super E would be sufficient. I have had 4bikes with this carb and they have always been super easy to tune and very relaible. They start fast, warm up fast, and flow great!!!!
