Default EXHAUST AND REMAP

I AM NEW TO THIS AND I AM SURE YOU HAVE HEARD THIS QUESTION MANY TIMES. MY QUESTION IS THIS. I OWN A 05 FAT BOY WITH EFI. LIKE MOST OF US I DONT LIKE THE SOUND OF THE STOCK PIPES SO I JUST BOUGHT A SET OF V.H. BIGSHOTS SHORTS I HAVENT INSTALLED THEM YET UNTIL I GET SOME ANSWERS. I WAS TOLD BY OTHER RIDERS THAT I DONT HAVE TO REMAP WITH AN EXHAUST CHANGE ALONE. WAS TOLD I WOULD IF I ADD AN INTAKE STAGE 1 OR 2 BUT SHOULD BE FINE WITH EXHAUST ONLY. MONEY IS A LITTLE TIGHT RIGHT NOW AND I DO PLAN ON GETTING A STAGE 1 LATER AND BUYING THE POWER COMMANDER AT A LATER TIME. I ALSO SAW A ARTICLE IN AMERICAN IRON THAT SAID THE SAME THING ABOUT THE EXHAUST (NO NEED TO REMAP WITH EXHAUST ONLY) SO WILL THIS HURT MY BIKE IF I PUT THE EXHAUST ON WITHOUT REMAPPING IT AND IS THERE ANY OF YOU OUT THERE DOING THIS PLEASE HELP THANKS GEO

First thing is please dont type with all capital letters thats called shouting. Now on to the exhaust it is recommend to remap.I would do it.They claim to send these out running a little on the lean side in low to mid rpm so then you go and change pipes which changes back pressure and all kinds of other things.I opted to buy a powercommander for $275 that i can adjust vs paying the stealership $150 for there download which is meant for all screamin eagle stuff not V&H

Theres another option besides the power commander. The one that I have installed on my bike is the REVTECH DFO (digital fuel optimizer). It works on the same principals as the power commander execpt you don't need to connect your ride to a computer. Adjustments are made in four areas, low med high and WFO (Wide F*&^in Open) and can be completed with a small screwdriver. I've had mine for 2 years and haven't had any issues. Installation is a snap the kit comes with all the required accessories. The best part is they typically are half the cost of the power commander. They have a wide enough range to cover everything from an exhaust swap all the way up to a Stage III Kit; bored over, higher compression, cams etc.

Geoc, I have noticied that you have only posted 5 time's, what's up with that , just kidding, anyway's let me give you some sound advice from a guy who ran 6000 mile's without a remap and SE ac kit, don't do it, my bike ran very lean, and the power gain was well worth the 300 buck's I shelled out.
