Every one has a different way. I have a 195 main and 48 slow, stock needle no shims. Got V&H bigshot staggard and S.E intake. Get 48 miles gal. 2 up. Plugs look very light tan. No flat spots. 25000 miles. Let dealer do it at 1500 miles with first service just to keep warrenty nice and simi legal. Had to repull carb my-self next day as it was not fitted correctly in rubber boot and was sucking air. Checked jets and needle just to make sure they were ok. Last time its been in shop!!! Did a friends Wideglide last year same way no problems.

I did exactly what you're talking about with the addition of adding a true-dual exhaust (05 FLHT). Before the change, the bike surged and popped through the carb (definitely lean) after the change (Big Sucker, Wild Pigs, Fullsac Dual kit, #46 slo, drilled idle mixture plug and two brass washers under the needle) she runs like a totally diferent beast. No more surging or popping, plenty of pull, great idle and an excellent sound - cwo

Yes did just like the post said 190 main-46 slow and two #4 washers under the needle.Runs great. I also went with the An Big sucker and V&H big shot staggered. You can't beat the price and the performance is great no more lean burps and plenty of pulling power

I posted that info as a result of trial and error over many years and it works well. I have used it on many bikes to date and most will agree that for the cost of about $5 compared to the $70 ++ for a jet kit, it can't be beat. Just don't drill the slide.

I also have a 195 main and a 48 slow with Cycle Shack Exhaust, runs perfect! and with TC's advice I put a Direct Parts Idle Mixture Needle p/n cp005....its adjustable with no tools involved after installation....for Keihin 40mm carbs only!

Thank's TC

Not to hijack your tread(this is sorta the next question anyway's,lol) but I was just wondering what everyone is doing with their jetting when doing a 95" with say tw-37 cams,F.T. pist and minor head work with .030 hg? I had too also done the std carb changes with the A.C and pipes. Now with more C.I. is it nec to do a min of #195mj,#48 sj and more shims under stock or the Sportster needle? TCSTD any suggestions? This in on a 2000 Deuce with Supermegg. Thanks guys,Al
