spark plugs? Too rich?????

Default spark plugs? Too rich?????

Hey, pulled my plugs after my RK started to miss, mostly third gear. The front plug had caked on crud in the gap area. I sand blasted the plugs, replaced and after 100 mi I pulled them again and found the front plug is darker than the rear plug. The front plug almost has a line of black where it is probably sprayed with the fuel mix. I run stock except for SE slipons. A few pops on decel (I like that though), other than that runs good. Only 2000 mi on the King.

I forgot to add, am thinking about a power commander III?? Any thoughts on the problem or the PC III? Greatly appreciated.

I take it that image is from before you cleaned them and tried again?

http://www.harleyhelp.com/sparkplg.html Did you regap after blasting? 2000mi. is not many miles I would think you have an issue.

With that much crud on the plug, I'd be looking for plug failure/ignition it self, SUPER-RICH or a oil problem. First thought when I looked was oil.

What could the oil problem be? I did switch to Amsoil.

No, thats after I cleaned them re-installed and put 100 mi on.

Sucking past the intake valve seal or an oil control ring issue. I would more likely lean toward the valve seal. Are you sure it isn't missing after cleaning. Try a new plug, check the wires and if it comes out like that again, oil. Also, check the breather set up. Make sure it is not restricted and the engine can breath. Good luck. The plug looks so bad that if it were fuel it could only be a sticking injector. But that also wouldn't explain why it runs good until it fouls.

Put a new paper filter on as well as new plugs. The dealer said the proper gap is.40, is this correct?
