.038-.043 .040 is good. If you run a stander plug I start at .038 and in 20K they have burned to about .04 ish. It also dawned on me that we do not know what year the bike is. Early production 05s had a valve seal issue.

Update: called the local know-it-all and he said almost all the 05 run have the affected seals. He said to pull a rocker cover and see what color the seal was. Blackish gray bad! redish good. I have never did this but the word is if you have a leak-down tester or similar device and a good universal valve spring compressor, it is doable without pulling the heads. Piston must be at TDC.

Angry update

Well I dropped my bike at the dealer for repair and after looking at it they found that the valve seals are bad. They said they will check for other parts in need of repair. Don't know how long its gonna take yet. I cant believe Harley isn't doing the right thing and picking up the tab for a problem with a part they found was bad and changed. Ahhhh good ole American craftsmanship.

I called the dealer yesterday and they said they can't fit me back into the sched. until next Tuesday to replace the valve seals. They took the heads off to diagnose and now cant repair until next week????????? WTFFFFFFFF! Does anyone know if there was a recall issued by HD regarding the oil seals HD found were defective?

Not a recall but I do remember seeing a service bulletin that was issued. Google may be able to come up with it. Or it may be on Harley Hog's web site.

It's a case of fix it if there is a problem, otherwise just ride and hope for the best.
