the starter makes a noise when it pulls back off the flywheel. any fix?

 

you sure its coming from the starter?

 

i dunno, it only does when it starts, my buddies 07 EG did it,&nbsp\\; now my 08 Ultra does it. it's very fast. i heard it, but had not cared, but i will listen better and maybe video tape it.

 

HD says that noise is normal[:@]. WE hear it on most every 96 incher out there. The 08's seem not to be as loud but then again you got the trans noise when driving. You are getting a loud crack noise when the bikes starts and the starter backs out correct??

 

It is the compensator bottoming out upon startup.&nbsp\\; You can dreate the same noise if you taek off from a stop and not give any throttle and release the clutch quickly.&nbsp\\; Yes, unfortunately it is normal.

 

Yep!! It's normal. My 07 Heritage did it and so does my 08 Ultra.&nbsp\\; I get some strange looks sometimes&nbsp\\;when I fire it up in a parking lot.

Does the noise occur just once on a start, or more than once?&nbsp\\; I get a similar sound on my 08 Heritage but with up to three clanks on a warm start.

it is the compensater and normal. my 07 did it when new. now after about 3500 miles I cant remember the last time it did it.
