Default Installing slipons, Should I use Silicone to seal connection?

I bought a set of used slip on Rush mufflers and gonna put on the Rg. Should I use new muffler clamps and install some HI-Temp silicone around the mufflers where they slip into the headers to help seal the connection and make sure they dont leak?&nbsp\\; If I put the silicone on there what condition will the silicone be in 5 or 10 thousand miles if I pull them off to replace with sometrhing else?
I've never done slip on's before. Thanks HMT

&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; I put on a set of Rush's a couple of weeks ago with new clamps.&nbsp\\; I had leaks.&nbsp\\; I pulled them off and use permatex copper silicon.&nbsp\\; Try to put the adjuster away from the slits in the mufflers.&nbsp\\; No problems now.&nbsp\\;

The permatex ultra copper works really well for sealing exhaust systems. I agree with letting it set up well overnight.
