Default Carbs and altitude

I plan a trip to the mountains in Colorado in a couple of weeks. I have an 05 FLHTC with a 95 incher. How much problem am I going to have&nbsp\\;with the higher altitude as far as how the bike runs?

None, your cv40 will do just fine.&nbsp\\; I have had mine from sea level to over 10,000 feet no problem at either extreme or any where in between.

Yep, if it's the stock CV (or any CV for that matter) you'll have no trouble.&nbsp\\; Of course you know the power will be less the higher you go but that's normal and unavoidable.&nbsp\\; It will run fine though.

Wellllll, MAYBE you'll have trouble.&nbsp\\; Generally, CV carbs do adjust somewhat to changes in elevation, but when my bike was still bone-stock, I took my yearly trip to mile-high country and fouled the plugs big-time.&nbsp\\; Since then, I haven't had a problem, and I've gone with the Sporty needle and an EV13 cam, but I always have spare plugs with me and change them if I have any inkling I might need to.&nbsp\\; If you have one of those carb kits that make your bike run disastrously rich, you might have a serious lack of power in the mountains.

Yeah, we should say that *IF* your carb is jetted somewhere in the vicinity of correct then you'll be fine.&nbsp\\; But if you're running fat, wet, and sloppy at sea level then it'll just get worse at 9,000 ft!
