Default 1st gear Take Off Problem

Occassionally when taking off from standing startin 1st gear the bike just seems to lose engine power, I have to pull the clutch in and give it a couple of revs to get it back to normal. Not sure if it is a clutch/gearboxprob or an engine/fuel problem. There are some noises associated with this when it happens that seem to come from the gear lever area, but after clutching and a bit of a rev all comes good.

This only happensat the moment of take off, no other probs ever. Bike runs like a charm otherwise. Anyone have any similar probs or think they know what it might be.

Default RE: 1st gear Take Off Problem

IMO H-D 1st gear is too tall. With their newer 6 speed you would think they could lower 1st gear a bit. It would help out on take off and make it easier on the clutch among other things. It's the reason Baker has come out with the DD7 tranny.
