The build from GMR was 10:1.. I guess the comp releases weren't needed. One guy put them in just in case he decides to go higher with the compression

I know that some people just prefer gear drive cams.

I did a complete HD build on my bike.. I haven't added the money but it's in that ballpark..
I did the High Comp build in the SE catalogue.
95"
SE performance heads with compression releases
SE High comp piston
HD 257 high lift cam
HDAdjustable pushrods
Rinehart 2in1
PCIII
95/99.9

Here is one example of a build GMR just did for a member in my Heritage Springer group.

edit* Also, many builders don't want to dyno a new build til at least the 500 mile break in..Usually not part of the build cost.

The engine spec's are as follows:
GMR in Prescott Az put a big bore kit in jackin er up to 98 cubes, should put out up to 110 hp

98 inch kit with 3CC CP forged pistions
Andrews 37G cam 510 lift
Andrews Gear drive install kit
Andrews four gear set Inner and outer gear drive kit for 99-06 (not dyna) for gear drive cams
Stage 111 CNC Heads 1.9 intake valves, 1.625ex
Cometic top end gasket kit
Push rod covers for use with adjustable pushrods
4130 chrome/moly pushrods. Not quick intstall

With the oil & filter plus labour the total cost came to $3,377.93

I don't see a SERT or a tune up on the list.....there is a $900.00 bill right there and where is the pipes.
Steve prices his Heads and parts so low he barley makes anything off them...you won't find too many shops giving his prices, point is these builds cost more than $2500.00.

Good points about the SERT and pipes. For me though it doesn'tmatter because I have a heavy breather AC, Vance & Hines 2 into 1 pipes and have pruchased the SERT (haven't used it yet).

Doc is correct.
Also, you cannot get caught in peak numbers.
Say, Tom's bike gets 95 hp and 105 ft/lbs.
Then, Ed's bike makes 103 hp and 113 ft/lbs.
Ed's bike cost more to build. Ed's curves hit harder, make much more, on the way up to torque peak, and carry out farther.
Tom runs into Ed at a gathering, get to talking price on their builds. Tom is all happy at the price he paid for 8/8 less, bragging(with his Mr."T" starter-set, fully exposed)as he alerted toEd, that Edgot "ripped off".
Two days later, they bump into each other again, this time at a stop light. Ed waxes Tom's a$$ like he is tied to a tree stump. Tom wants the phone number of the shop, that did Ed's bike.
NOW, he pays twice.
Which job, at that point, was the best deal?
Point made.

I'm sure there were pieces left off the list.......The bottom line is, you get what pay for....and the original numbers in the first post are not off.....Do the research, know what you want your engine to do, and ask questions up front......I'm very happy with my results now, but I paid twice for a couple things,
