Crane Gear cam-S&S ovals-95"
I am planning a Zipper's 95 kit with crane 310 gear cams and S&S gear drive for cams.
Flat top 9:1 pistons, do not want 10+. with TC bearings and by pass shim...
S&S oval slip-on, has any one used the S&S ovals (SPO)???
Confirmed with S&S that the ovals (SPO) are not glass packed so sound will stay the same vs glass packs types.
SCIESZKA claims torque will be around 100, looking for low to mid range in the 0-5000 rpm range
Will also include Air kit and race tuner and DYNO all work done by SCIESZKA POWER on Bel Air road norht of Baltimore.
$3,400 parts and labor.
Any thoughts would be helpful, Thank You

You mentioned TC bearings, I assume you mean the Torrington style cam bearings. they are the best!
I don't know anything about the Crane cams, but if it's similar to the Andrews t-26, you'll be happy with the low RPM torque, as you have a bagger.
Don't forget your tuning!

Hi Traveler,
Yes, those are the bearings and they have found that the 310 Crane cam design works well with the SS gears, provides good low and mid range on the touring models. This is the performace shop that Zipper's recommends to install their performance products.

hey,
I have a set of SPO slip ons on my road glide. Love the sound of em. They have a Big Block V8 kinda sound to em. I've gotten several compliments on the look and sound of em. loud but not too loud till ya roll on it hard.
cant really tell ya if they made any difference as I also did the SE A/C and a SERT at the same time. All these made a big difference.

Thanks JW, nice clean shots. They certainly look like they have plenty of internal volume for the exhuast to to dance and rumble.
I did call S&S and the tech department had to go and get a confirmation to be sure, but this is what they came back with.
The SPO ovals are not glass packs, they are all metal, holes and chambers, so NOTHING to blow out, the sound should stay rather consistant
compared to glass-packs that change tone as they blow-out.

Thanks R-Horn, I also did The Timonium show and got the same read on "Brian", he seems to run the front office for the shop.
I did visit the actual shop and "Steve" the owner does the Dyno and tech work with one other mechacnic. and a shop helper.
It has a rather small shop space to do the actual work so they only do a few bikes at a time but have plenty of storage room next door for the bikes that are waiting to get worked on.
The Quality-Durability-Reliability is what will count at the end of the day so I will keep the Forum updated on the build-up & Dyno results/durability from SCIESZKA POWER and the parts from ZIPPER'S performance products.
They are NOT cheap so aqain, lets hope their cost indicates the QUALITY and RELIABILITY of their work.
