How much $$ to make a 100 HP

RE: How much $$ to make a 100 HP
You can price various hp/tq packages here using the "Design Your Build" feature:
http://www.head-quarters-usa.com/ushome.html
You could do it yourself, or pay an indy about a grand to do it for you.
As others have mentioned, you would need a fuel managment device (SERT, PCIII, DTT, Thundermax, etc.). and some dyno time for a good tune.
There are a number of HDFers who have been very happy with the SE Stage II Big Bore kit that turns the 96 into a 103 using stock heads, new cylinders, pistons, and SE 255 cams--mid-90's hp/100 or so ft-lbs torque.
You would get better performance at less cost with having your cylinders bored for a perfect piston fit, HQ 500 cams or Woods, etc. equivalent, and a good tune compared to the SE Stage II kit.
When you get to the 110+ hp/120+ tq, then you start to need clutch improvements because the stock unit, unmodified, will likely slip which adds cost to the project.
Plenty of Head-Quarters, GMR, and other builds on HDF--just do some searches and PM the guys who have them. Good luck with your research.

If you want to just get to 100/100, a simple cam swap, such as the Andrews 54, HQ500 or Woods TW6 along with a good two into one pipe like the Fatcat and a real good tune will get you there or damn close. Heads and big bore will take you well beyond. You will need a tuning system, PCIII, SERT, DTT, T-Max etc to get the most out of the build. If you know of a real good tuner (In Fla see Doc 1), SERT is the way to go but the others are very good also.
Cam, about $300, Factcat, about $700, Tuning system $350 to about $700,pushrods, $100, Lifters $100 and gaskets and labor.Even with labor and dyno time, you can get there for about $3k or less.

starting with 95 ci kit that came on bike I spent right at $2100 and did 99% of the work.Just dynoed today and wasnt bad wasnt what I hoped form though.Made 114hp and 118 tq was hoping for over 120 hp.Combo is pretty much maxed out for 95 ci.
Guess I should have followed my own advice and waited till I could get the bigger motor I realy want anyway.

RE: How much $$ to make a 100 HP
the wife and I both have built dynas:
hers- '07 96" with budget ported heads, 9.8 compression, andrews 37 cams, .030" head gaskets, fatcat 2 into 1 exhaust, power commander, big sucker air cleaner, 94hp/97tq, $3k in parts and labor...I'm sure a big bore and larger intake valves would break 100hp/100tq
mine- '08 110" with welded & cnc ported heads, .030" head gaskets, 10.7 compression, se257 cams, supertrapp 2 into 1 exhaust, se air cleaner, power commander, 107hp/115tq, $4k in parts and labor
the wife's bike has better low speed manners due to the short cam...long cams make more hp, but there's always a trade off...
hope this helps and good luck!

These are 98 inch kit ( started life as a 88) fairly close in overall cubic inch but lacking the stroke you have currently.
Here are a few kit that we sold , as you can see they where dynoed all other the country. Price wise these kits are in the 2500 range for parts. One kit there with cast heads is more by approx 800. Price is always going to vary based on what you decide you want and how bad. I tell many customers to try the current pipes they have. If they are happy with the power and the numbers are there are very close, then they can decide if they have to have the extra few ponies to break what ever goal they set.
One of the sheets the customer really had to have 105 hp and it can in under but he loved the power and did not feel that spending say 600 on a 2-1 pipe would be worth the cost to make that goal. Pipes will make a huge difference in the build.

RE: How much $$ to make a 100 HP
Here is a big bore kit based on a 96 inch to start with. Price wise these kit can be less money as many customers have stayed chain drive cams and some basic parts, and had great luck doing so. Still having some trouble getting loaded , one i see is to small to see the print I can e-mail these direct in larger size if some one wants it. Or maybe can fix the problem??

RE: How much $$ to make a 100 HP
Steve, you should point out that the first graph you posted with the little 525 cams making 112/112 was only a 9.8:1 build with stage 2 heads. (I know the guy.) Only a moderate build for sure.
Word is that the same guy has a 124" GMR going together as we speak.[sm=burnout.gif]
I think a good big bore package like the ones you sell are one of the cheapest *sure thing* ways to make 100+/100+.

RE: How much $$ to make a 100 HP
Lotta big bucks getting thrown around here...at the risk of ruffing some feathers; IMO starting w/a decent 'Stage one' 96"er (good pipe/AC/tuning device) & doing the work yourself, 100/100 is reachable foraround$1000.
headwork - $450
http://www.deweysheads.com/
Andrews 54Hcams - $250
Gaskets - approx $30
Tune - $250
TOTAL - $980
