Haven't started my engine since January..HELP!!
I have a 2007 Road King Classic. I have had it in storage at my sister's place since January. No one has started the engine since then. Would it be safe to just go "cranker 'er up", or should I take it in to the dealership and have them start it up? I'm really worried. Another thing, the bike just turns off when I'm riding. No pattern as to when it happens, seems pretty random, but it is definately when the engine has been running for a while. Anyone else with that problem? Thanks for your help.
Andy
The only changes to the bike are the Race Kit, K&N Filter, and Rush exhausts.

You should be able to "cranker 'er up" but with that much time sitting I'd do a fluids change pretty soon. As far as the cutting off, it could be a couple of things; an open in the run switch or ignition wiring or ecm problems. That one might be best investigated by a dealer or a trusted indy shop.

Do what I did...Let her down off the stand. Roll out to open area in garage. Check fluids. Look up the pipes for critters. Look over rest of bike for signs of critter damage. Sit on seat, turn switches on, wait for fuel pump to charge, hit starter and enjoy! As far as shutting down I am taking it that was happening before you put it up for storage? Might be master relay just off the battery...
Oh yeah, Dont forget to check tire presure, mine was down 5# each.

You could also do it this way:
Charge Battery
Change fluids and filter(s)
Change out fuel and make sure lines are clear (if you did not put a fuel stabilizer in).
Check tire pressures
Check throttle cables
Check brakes
Roll out of garage and check for critters in pipes, bags, etc etc.
Disconnect coil harness (or remove coil fuse to keep from firing). Turn engine over a few times to circulate oil.
Re-enable igintion. Fire up! (Fuel will have primed during oil circulation).
