RE: Ever Use Spark plugs other than stock?
I agree with Bruce - use the stock wires unless you've got something really special going on with your engine (esp. high compression). Stay away from those micky mouse wires, they will cause you trouble shortly down the road, if not immediately.
When your wires start to get hard & won't hardly bend (and problems running when they get wet) I usually replace them - a lot of times, when they are on the way out, they will either bite you when you get near them, or put on a bit of a light show at night; sometimes you have to look very hard, the sparking can be VERY faint, but ANY arcing = replacement. Keep in mind, sometimes other problems can appear to be plug wires, but for example, occassionally the plugs can cause the wires to arc (easiest path to ground) when the plugs get really fouled, gap way too large, etc. The best way to ck the wires is with an ohm meter for the correct resistance (not always 100% correct either - isn't this fun). Just a couple things to check. And again, some of those BS wires will put a LOT of stress on other components, and cause some weird things to happen / failures.
