IDLE VERY LOW, ON FUEL INJECTED HARLEY
I have a 2000 Electra Glide ultra classic. It just recently started to idle very slow like around 500 rpm and sometimes it quits running.
Anyone know why the idle is so low and how i can fix it? It is fuel injected not carburated. Please help.
Thanks

Setting hot and cold idle on the MM injection system is a job and 80% of the time it will change again on you. It's seems to be a everlasting job that has no cure.

1. warm up bike about 250/285deg
2. shut bike off.
3. what 10 tens before you unplug cold idle control.
4. start bike and wait one min.
5. then adjust cold idle to 1500/1600 rpm good luck..........
6. wait about 1/2 min to see if it will hold.
7. then turn off bike
8. wait 10 seconds plus
9. then plug in cold idle control
10. start bike
11. make sure bike does not over rev.
12. let bike run for a few min. and make sure warm idle stays at 950/1050
13.startbike laterafter the bike coolsto make sure everything is ok.

Remove the air cleaner and clean the throttle body with brake cleaner. Be sure to clean the two holes at the top of each throat; they are the idle air bleed holes.
Allow the bike to completely cool and start the bike. Be sure the cold idle rises to 1400 rpm and the drops down to 1200 rpm and then slowly down to around 1000 rpm. If not then adjust the cold idle screw untill it does from a cold start.
Once the cold idle is set let the bike warm up and adjust the hot idle screw to 950-1050 rpm.
Shut off bike and pull the 5amp and the 15amp fuse under the right side cover for 15 min.
Install fuses and without starting the bike switch on the ignition for 15 seconds, then switch it off untill you hear the circuit breaker click.
Switch on ignition and start bike.
You may have to repeat the adjustment.
