Primary cam sprocket spacer?

Primary cam sprocket spacer?
Replacing cam bearings on my 99 TC.
Didn't check during tear down because I never gave it a thought, even when I noticed the .350 on the spacer.
I've done some machining over the years and I knew that there muse be a reasong for specific measurements of that particular collar. But I never checked.
During text book re-assembly, I come to find I need to make up close to .020 to.025difference between crank and cam sprocket faces.
Does that soundstrange to anyone?
I haven't checked yet but I'm going to check cavity space to make sure I don't run into cam posi. sensor.
I appreciate in insight into this matter.
