Exhaust - cleaning inside of pipes?

Exhaust - cleaning inside of pipes?
This has been bothering me - need feedback.
But, comes down to "Does anyone periodically clean the inside of their exhaust pipes?"
Couple reasons for asking:
1. My 05 had the valve seal problem - assume that a more than average amount of oil may have been getting in the exhaust
2. Everytime I take off my slip on's I clean a couple inches inside of the header pipe and it's always black
3. Cleaning the black crap off the end of the exhaust
In other words, if at some time you were running rich or had other issues - does this merit cleaning the inside of the pipes?
Thanks,

RE: Exhaust - cleaning inside of pipes?
Was more interested for folks who ran rich or had the valve seal / something else wrong and possibly carboned up the inside of the exhaust - i.e after fixing the problem would it make sense to clean the exhaust. Plus, on more restrictive exahust, wonder if this carbon/oil could clog up something?

Actually cleaning the inside of the end of the muffler is not such a bad idea. It allows you to see from time to time how much carbon build up you have and how dark it is running. Its a good way to keep an eye on how well the engine is running in regards to fuel mixture (too lean, or too rich).
That's my 2 cents!!
