Default Vance & Hines Monster Ovals

Anyone here tried 'em yet? What do you think? I'm thinking about giving them a shot but I'd like to hear a set before I buy. Are they as loud as the standard ovals?

Since they are so new, there is probably not a lot of people with them yet.

Go for it, be the first to try them out and give a review of them.

I saw them in a magazine today, looks good, the write-up makes them sound good.............but you never know until you try them.

They are very close to the standard ovals on sound. Nice pipes.

I checked their web site this afternoon, and it sound that those pipes will be available April 2008. So I'm not sure where you heard them, i don't remember seeing a sound clip on the web page for those new pipes.

What is the difference between the Ovals and the Basics?
Is one louder than other?

As much as I would love to be the first, I have to be very careful with the money I spend right now (it really sucks being broke). I'd hate to make a $1,000 mistake that could have been avoided. I know I like the way Rinehart and Bassani sounds and I like the V&H ovals but I really like the way the new Monster Ovals look. However, between the two, I'd rather have it sound the way I want instead of look great (since I can't look at them while I ride anyhow!). Thanks for the replies so far guys.

V&H claims 95-98 db which seems loud for a "quieter" muffler.

Good question. How can anyone know what they sound like when they haven't even been released yet????? Release date is April 15th.

I just ordered a set from https://www.mandmcycles.com/homepage.htm

MandM Cycles is selling them for $585 plus shipping. There is a waiting list.

I sure hope they are quieter than the standard ovals I'm running now or I'll be really disappointed. But I do like the looks. Of course I like the looks of my ovals now too.

Wolfie40 asked which were louder the Ovals or the Basics. Having had both I can say that the Basics are louder with their straight through design. But a lot depends on which bike you are putting them on. I have a '06 Screamin Eagle Ultra with the 103". Everything is louder on this bike. Then I added the V&H Dresser Duals. True duals also makemufflers louder.

It will be interesting to see what people think of the Monsters once there are a few sets installed.

Someone else in these forums had called V&H and ask about the loudness of the ovals. V&H replied, there the quietest mufflers we make.

I recently installed a set of V&H dresser duals and there ovals. The V&H ovals sound great, not to loud under 3000 rpm (nice cruising sound) but when you punch it, WOW, they come alive.
