Default Carb Question - How to remove linkage?

Hi All,

I'm disassembling my TC88 top-end to do a BB job on my 00 FDXWG with OEM CV carb. I have a shop manual and in the disassembly steps when it gets to the carb it tells me to disassemble both the carb and manifold as a unit. OK. But when it comes to the cables it simply says something equivalent to "remove cable linkage" w/o details. My question is how? It looks like the idle and throttle cables have the equivalent of the brass cylinders on the ends of the cables at the throttle, but in a circular cable guide that is towards the back of the carb on the right side (when facing the carb). How does one get at them, or is there another way?

Who has done this, and how did you do it?

I must be tired. Everything else has been pretty straight forward.

Thanks

You will need to break the cable adjuster nuts located close to your twist throtal. Will have to slide back the rubber boots on cables to see them. You will have to put slack in your cables by rotating the adjustment nut. When you get enough just slide the little brass fittings out of there slots and cables will come off there thracks on carb.

Duh,...
I knew I was tired. I've had the throttle off before to change a grip and put a replacement "cruise control" screw under the throttle. I should have thought of that, loosen the adjuster screws up on the handlebars, and the same slack thing will happen down below. I think I was confused by how the carb end of the cable shields are screwed or crimped onto a plate just above the circular track and couldn't see how to loosen them easily there.

Thanks guys.
