newbie: derby?
Sorry to ask such a basic question. What does a derby cover actually cover - ie: what is a derby?

The derby cover is the access to the clutch. It's called a derby cover 'cause on the old tin primary bikes, it was shaped similar to a derby hat.

RE: newbie: derby?
If you guys don't mind, could we kick this topic up one more notch? I have a new Skull Derby cover for Christmas that I will put on in the spring when I get the bike out of storage. What will I find inside when I pull off the old derby cover to put the new one on? It's scary if you have never done something before.

Yes, that was my next question. Is it dry or wet behind - will it need a new seal?
