Default No fuel gauge!

Hi all,

first post here, just started finished rebuilding my 1992 Heritage Softail and started riding least week, but came across the problem of knowing when to fill her up! I have taken her down to the bare essentials, no saddlebag, nothing and was wondering if any of you have suggestion on how to check fuel level other than the shake and peek method? I know, if this is my biggest issue on the bike I'm lucky, but I'm fussy.

Thanks in advance

Best thing to do is to reset the tripometer when you fill up. Figure out your gas mileage and the size of the tank. When I hit 200 miles, I start looking for gas, but I have gone over 230 miles without hitting reserve, but I have a 5 gallon tank.

Thanks, that was my plan...until my speedo cable snapped this weekend! To make matters worse no dealership or stockists here in Malta, so going to have to order from UK/US and wait.

Go to a Chinesse resturaunt and steel you some chop sticks to carry around and check the fuel depth with. Don't worry too much unless you ride in a remote area, reserve will get you to a gas station most of the time.
