Harleys with carbs ?

RE: Harleys with carbs ?
I opted for EFI on my 05 Heritage. I don't plan on ever going past a stage two kit, and I live in the Cleveland area so cold weather riding is normal. Additionally, having been in the automotive field most of my life, and seeing the reliability and performance an ECM/EFI combo brings to the table, it was a "no brainer" for me. If you live in a stable climate and like to tinker, I'd consider the carb...

RE: Harleys with carbs ?
I opted for the carb just because it don't seem right for a Harley to be fuel injected. I probably live in the strangest place for weather on the continent, one day cold as hell the next burning up and the humidity is not alot of fun either, but I have never had a problem with the carb. Of course since nobody has had a problem out of either one I guess Harley makes a good bike all around.

my other idea of carb "fun" (sorry guys, I know it's not chevy.com, & I promise not to do it again, but I couldn't resist - 2 x 4 sitting on an old Eldelbrock tunnel ram - runs perfectly, and this SS is WAY over the top - I've rebuilt this baby 5 or 6 different ways over the last 20yrs)

RE: Harleys with carbs ?
yea, it was a toss-up sometimes between the holleys & the carters - I think I've still got an old AFB out in my garage from an old 'vette - they were some weird sizes, 390 cfm, 500, etc.
Oh, and those 409's were awesome on their own - I'd love to have one today ...
but I better not go on about this - someones gonna shoot me - I'll stick to Harley's!!

RE: Harleys with carbs ?
Carb not offered any more in the UK on new Harleys, so I got no choice. However, I'm quite glad when I see my friends faffing about with their chokes and all the popping, farting and stalling that seems to go with 'em - especially in the cold. Now, I'm not saying that's typical, but my EFI is great and doesn't give me any problems. I don't buy the bit about carbs being more tuneable - buy a race tuner or such like and you can tweak away to your hearts content (not that I can be bothered with all that; Stage 1, download - job done, nice reliable bike, thank you very much.)
