Rocker Support Plates and SE Pushrod Install

Rocker Support Plates and SE Pushrod Install
Well I've just about gotten my top end back together and it's time to tighten down the rocker support plates and install the SE pushrods. Question is, service manual shows 2 Snap On torque adapters ($27.00 each) that they recommend using to prevent overtightening of the the bolts on the rear cylinder support plate and rocker cover. Are these one time tools really needed?
Last question, there is a small taper at one end of the SE pushrod, is this designed to go at the lifter or rocker box end or does it matter?
Thanks.

Thanks Dawg. I kind of figured the tapered end going up, but your reply was appreciated. As much as I'd like to take you up on your offer of "borrowing" your dogbones for 5 min. worth of work, I have a set of crowfoot wrenches that I think will give me the same results on the rocker arm support plates.
I appreciate the .jpg of the pushrods, I'll keep it just in case I decide to go through this fun again some time.

If you are using a 1/2 torque wrench than a 1/2 inch flat wrench makes a great torque adapter for the rocker supports, just put the torque wrech 1/2 drive into the open end of the flat wrench and turn it 90 degrees to the handle of the torque wrench and use the closed end on the bolts.

Wow BVBob, you are the man after my own heart. I used the open/box end wrench suggestion and it worked like a charm. The dogbone adapter is is just a short version of a combo wrench with a closed square for the torque wrench. After a couple of tries, I got the hang of things and torqued the rocker support bolts perfectly. Saved me a few bucks and room in my toolbox to boot! [sm=groupwave.gif] [sm=partyparty.gif]
