Default Cam chain tensioner repair kit?

Does anyone know if Harley offers a cam chain tensioner repair kit or tensioner replacement kit of any kind?
Or do I have to keep buying individual parts at un-holy prices?
I'm chompin at the bars to get into my 99 TC88 but I like to make sure I have everything I need befor I start so I don't have to stop and run for this or go for that, etc. etc.
Thanks for the help.
Dan.

Dan,

Basically all you need is the tensioners and a cam service kit (gaskets and bearings).

If you're in there you could update to the roller chain and hydraulic tensioners that HD went to on 2006 Dynas and 2007 all models. The upgrade also gets you the new oil pump. But you would need a set of rollerchain conversion cams, stock cams won't work. Details here:

I've got an 08 Heritage & assume mine is running the same tensioner setup that my local dealership has sitting at their display adjacent to the gear driven setup. Who has made the swap & do you notice any real performance gain? I met a guy & he said his bikes acceleration was noticeable improved by doing this.
For those that have done this, what was the price of the kit vs maybe having it done by the MoCo?

Thanks,
Clay

Your 08 is running the newer style hydraulic system. Before you go to gear driven you would need to have your crank runout checked and verify that it is within spec (below .003) If it is not, you either have to have the case split and the crank trued and welded or stick with the hydraulic setup you have now. The gain over going gears is slightly more torque and never having to worry about tensioners.

Are planning on upgrading to the hydraulic chain tensioners?

When I replaced my chain tensioners on my 02 I think the "top end kit" and chain tensioners were under $100.

If I had to do it again I would have upgraded to the hydraulic tensioners. Alot more expensive this route but much more dependable.

I don't worry about my tensioners, I worry about the crank...

This has been discussed a lot on HDF. My Dyna is OK at present (not that many miles on it), but I plan going to the hydraulic upgrade when the time comes.

What year and model is your bike?
If you do not have the hydraulic tensioners. I would say 20,000 to 30,000 miles would be a good time to check them.
