Even when the motor was stock I never really did noticed a loss of power with the true dualsand I even went back and forth with the factory headers trying different mufflers to get a good sound that wasn't too loud,it only showed up on the dyno 81hp & 81 t

I have the V&H tru dual pipes and I have heard to that they are not as good as some of the other pipes on the market, so I guess the question is why, why are they the worst of the tru duals, I'm in the middle of a 95" build and want all I can get with tru duals but would like to know what's different from the V&H's than the other one's beside stepped pipes.

There is nothing wrong with vh head pipes. I have read that stepped headers are not always what they are cracked up to be. I went with 1 3/4 duel headers because they supposedly create more back pressure.

Well thats what I thought to but talk to some of the guy's that run the dynos and listen to them, the guy near me a Colboch HD is a very good tuner, he say's they will make less hp than any pipe out there, say maybe 3 to 4 hp less, he thinks it's the way they are bent, I was hoping that some of the experts would chime in on this, and I do agree about back pressure, even the Bassania pipes do better than the V&H's, go figure.

The bassani duels have better numbers because each pipe is the same length. You have to decide what is more important looks or performance. Imo I just cant get past the looks of a 2-1 exhaust system but that is just me. I'm just not in to chasing dyno #'s, but to each there own. I'm thinking about doing a 98 or 103 inch on my bike why i dont know I think it sounds and runs great the way it is.

Yea 04 I'm with ya on that but I'll tell ya what I did on my pipe's, I installed a set of 1 5/8" thunder monsters at the rear of the pipes, it helped with back pressure and it has great bottom end, I also cut about 3" off of the 2 1/2" rush baffles, runs great on top end and pulls strong, can't wait until I get my 95" build done and see how that works.

Just wanted to say thanks again for all the input. Engine build still down the road, but wanted to start research now.
