o-rings

RE: o-rings
Will it hurt anything to not have these o-rings on there? I threw mine away, didn't see the point. I don't have any oil leaking from where the breather bolts meet the heads. If I need them, I guess I can find some and install them. I believe the K&N instructions did not show these being reinstalled, even though they were on the stock unit. They were black rubber o-rings.

RE: o-rings
If you are running the SE or othersback plate and the rubber oil passages that go into the space behind the filer element, the o-rings are designed to seal the breather bolts so a positive vacuum can be maintained on the crankcase, drawing the nasty oil contaminated air back into the combustion chamber for burning, rather than dripping out onto the engine or ground.
Without the o-rings you may be drawing unfiltered air in behind the filter element and into the engine. Will it kill an engine...I doubt it as any air "sneaking" into the engine from thre would be extremely minimal. I would put them back in anyway unless you find a way to run vent lines from the heads and plug the passageway into the filter back plate. There are ways to do this but it is not necessary on a basically stock engine.
