Has anyone retroftit a new '08 EFI fuel tank to an earlier year? I have an '05 ST Deluxe. Are there any issues with using the '05 fuel pump? Will it fit the new tank? For '08, HD redesigned the ST Deluxe fuel pump so the new tank carries a different part number from the '05 - '07 Deluxes (more fuel capacity?). My present tank is damaged so I'm looking for a replacement tank or paint set. I've located an '08 Deluxe tank (same color) at 1/2 the price for a new '05 tank but need to know if the retrofit will work before I lay out the money. The dealer doesn't know if this will work or not. AN '08 fuel pump module may be the answer, but will it connect to my wiring harness? If any has tried this with success, I'l like to hear from them.

 

The sending unit from the 08 will not fit into the 05 fuel tank.
We have installed the 05 on an 06 but had to install 05 sender/pump.
I believe the canopy and sender iscompletly differenton the 08.
