Default cams & carb adjustment

Hi all, just installed SE 203 cams in my 03 Wideglide along with SE slip-ons and SE aircleaner. Wondering what would be a good starting point when adj./tuning the carb. I'm not a mechanic, but I think I can handle this along with the info on this forum. Thanks inadvance, Tim

You could probably(depending on altitude) install a #48 low speed jet and hi-flow air cleaner and be good to go if you're still running the stock CV carb.

Go to www.nightrider.com and find the carburator section. Lots of information there however I wouldn't drill the vacuum port. You should be alright with a 45 slow speed jet. It's easy to make them run well but harder to make them run right.

Shimming up the needle .060" did a lot for my bike. 48 low would be a good idea, main is definately ok at 190

Keep the stock 45 slow jet and get a 27094-88 Sportster needle. This straight part of this needle is richer and will help out from just off idle up to approx 1/4 throttle. The 48 slow jet kinda does the same thing, but it's too rich at idle.

Well if you really want to get technical, you could remove the cap covering the air/fuel mixture adjusting screw and twist it out 3/4 turn.....
But just try the #48 first. It should be fine with the 203 cams.

If this build is a 88' a 48 is TOO big...if it is a 95' the I'd use a 46 before a 48. I agree with Murf but I will add no one can tell you what jet to use to be rigt on...you need a dyno to show you what you need.
