RE: Plug balance pipe on Road King???
I'm not a v-twin techician, nor do I play one on T.V. But, I've been doing lots of research lately regarding exhaust systems and the physics behind what makes them perform effecienctly.
I've concluded that there are two basic reasons why someone chooses a particular exhaust system; looks or performance. It seems to be near impossible to get both in full measure without trade offs between the two.
In your case, I think you would soon regret cutting your cross-over pipe due to the noticable loss in TQ that would most likely result from the mod. not to mention any degredation in apprearance that may result.
If you really would like true duels on your ride, then save up, bite the bullet and buy a quality set and only cry once. IMHO

I fail to understand what your point would be!

I did it to my RK. I have a SERT and couldn't get the pop and backfire out of it. Had the crossover welded closed, retuned and it runs fine. Lost a little TQ, but not much. If you want true duals, there's no need to spend all that money unless you get some that are tuned, like Bassani. Might as well make duals out of the stockers.

GRAYRIDER, thanks for the info! I knew this idea had to have been done before. Really, what have you got to lose, a little labor taking the pipe off, have one of my welder buddies do the job and put it back together. I dont think I'll have spent one red cent on this!
