I have my eyes on my first Harley and I was considering a 2000 Sportster 1200. The only problem is that it is in need of engine repair. The seller lives in my hometown and has been on a quest to fix an engine noise for some time now. It has 31,000 miles on it and has been diagnosed with an issue with the wrist pin and possible other problems in this area. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any inside on cost that it may take for a certified Dealer to repair? To me this seems to be a major repair job, but if I can get the price right it may be worth it. He is currently asking $4000. Thanks in advance

Take a look at completed sales for 1200 Sportsters of this vintage that are running. I think you can do better.

 

A 4000. Sportster with an engine noise is a real BAD deal
