Default Anyone running a 21 grind Andrews

I am pondering on a 21 grind or a 26 grind andrews cam. I am running a stock TC 88 2000 Ultra (stage 1 ) with 35k with stock tensioners and am going to gear drive and am looking for bottom end torque only. Ride 2 up 98 % of time and most is either 55 or 75 mph. Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks and remember spring is coming, Mark

I have 26's. I like they way they pull, but they go out kind of early...5k or so. The 21's go out even earlier. I'm sure I would hate that.

Have you measured crank runout at the pinion? What is it?

I just took a look at the HQ website to compare the TC 500 to the HQ-0034. They show the same lift, duration, opening and closing points for both grinds. So what's the difference?

the 0034 is for 2006 and older and the 500 is the newer style cams.

I called Doug at HQ and he told me that he wanted to design a cam like the andrews 21's for baggers but when the new style cams came out he had to focus on that market.I haverun both the 21's and 26'sin my electra glide and the 21's are hard to beat if you are keeping the build mild and don't rev it over 5500 rpms. Most bagger ridersprobably never see 5000 rpms even when getting on it. The 21's give you great torq from idle to 100 mph. bigger cams might give you more peak numbers but how often are you at that rpm?

I guess if I would have paid a little more attention to what I was looking at on their web site, I would have seen that. Eyes are getting old ( but not the rest of me ). Thanks for the clarification.

You just described my riding style exactly as well as what I'm looking for in power gains.

I love my 21's. If I had to do it over again, I'd do the same thing.

i started with S&S 510Gs and ran for about a year. never could get it to cruise without an occasional sputter using PCIII and several MAPs. changed to 21Gs without the PCIII and couldn't be happier. closest to stock chain drive specs i have found.
