Default Ripping off the horizontal bar ???

2000 Sportster would look a lot prettier with the horizontal exhaust piece that adjoins the two....

Is this a large job, having some welding experience, and once I remove the piece what am I left with ?

Will there be a hole in each exhaust requiring a new setup anyway ?

Has anyone done this themselves..

Any help would be well appreciated.
Cheers

The mod is pretty simple, really. Cut out the pipe, and the weld. The fab a patch to go over it, and weld it on. Cover it with a heat shield, and you're done.

The welded area will most likely rust. So I would suggest ceramic coating inside and out.

The crossover pipe improves low end performance and torque. Remove it, and you'll lose some of that.

Take a look at the new bikes, no ugly cross over. The dyna's have the cross over where you can't see it. Not sure about the sporty. If their design is the same, you should consider using a newer stock pipe.

Thanks Bob, gee I guess it's a toss up between that nice take off power, or sacrificing her skirt to show a little more leg...

The mod seems quite do-able, but if there is a drop in that seat-of-my-pants hit in the morning, maybe I can just love her as she is...

Heads or tails ?.....

Cheers mate.
