Default V&H exhaust leak

I have V&H true duals and recently replaced my mufflers with Python slip-ons. The problem I'm having is, I can't get rid of the leak where the mufflers meet the head pipes. I tightened the clamps as far as they can go but they still leak, bad. Has anyone had this issue and resolved it?

I just installed some v&h ovalslip ons and I have the same problem, leaks right out where the slip on meets the head pipe. right side only leaks, Ive read somewhere in here people have used high heat silicon or sealant to cure that problem maybe one will chime in? Im going to install v&h duals this coming weekend and ill try the sealant,Ill let you know how it turns out.

The high temp silicone works good ( the copper stuff ). You didn't say what clamps you were using. The clamps that come with most aftermarket exhaust systems are a little weak. The general consensus is that the H-D clamps seem to work the best. The Moco says they're a one use piece. I've installed them twice and they seem to work okay but any more than that and I put on a set of new clamps. They run a bout $7 each but if it solves your problem it's worth it.

Hello

I agree. Get the ones from harley they work better. You can trok them down more. The ones that come with the kits kinda suck. I just installed a set of pythons 3 on a 07 bagger and did the same thing.

harley torco clamps can be tightened about two times then they are stretched out to the point that the bolt bottoms out on the nut before it actually squeezes the pipes tight enough. your pulling and pulling but the clamp can't physically get any tighter. buy new ones and tourqe them to proper value given in your repair manual and that will solve your problem. no sealant needed. good luck

Yes you dont need sealant. But I have always found It better to rub a little silicone around the Pipes ithelps with fitting and always gives a better seal. USE GOOD CLAMPS ASWELL!!!
