Default Port my heads or CNC heads

I have an opportunity to get my hands on a set of cnc'd heads for another $50.00 of what is going to cost to have mine ported/polished and larger valves and performance springs? Any advice?

I'd go with getting your stock heads ported/etc...

Cheers!

If the heads are SE CNC heads, pass on them! THendo your heads. You can have R&R CNC your heads for around 950$
HQ hand ports for about the same.

Leave the CNC heads on the shelf- use your own heads to CNC.

I agree the stock casting , along with a cnc cut is a great way to go. You can end up with a great running scooter for less money out of pocket. We charge 850 for the cnc cut heads. Comp release holes machined for free if you need them. Set up for your cam and compression needed. Having a stock head ported for your build vs a head that is a one size fits all. The CNC SE head is ok but still needs work , once you fix the head you are spending more than you need to for most street set ups.

Having a head proted to mach your bike, and your combo is the best way to get the job done regardless of money spent. The CNC heads are great for ET and Super class drag racers mainly because if you blow one up you just go down to the store and get another one without having to spent a ton having someone mach your old ones by hand, but you end up building your combo around that head to begin with. The HTCC CNC heads look like they flow great, but I think that "magic" combustion chamber and dome shape is just asking for trouble even if the quench is set just right. If you look at them closely the valves are shrouded like crazy as well. IMHO a high velocity head like the HQ or GMR will always work better on a street harley anyhow since by design they dont rev up that much anyhow.

Call Baisley high performance in Portland oregon and give them the specs on everything, pistons, exhaust, cams, gasket thickness etc and they will port and flow your castings for you at a very reasonable price. While its apart add the roller rockers.

they are great and they won't sell you this model or that. They will talk to you find out how you ride and what you are looking for then steer you right. Make sure you are honest with them about what you want and give them all the specs. If you are going big bore, they can bore and match pistons and barrels.

Its not all the best individual parts that make power, its the best combination of parts working together.
