Are the HQ 34's a good cam for an 07 96" with stock heads?
the HQ-500 is the same grind, only made for the 07 & later motors.

btw... yes, it is.

I've had the HQ-0034G cams in my build for the past year, and they really are a great cam. My build is listed in my signature, and it's a great running build.

I'm debating taking my heads off and having Big Boyz mill them down a bit more for 10-1 CR and install compression releases.......but part of me just wants to leave the build as-is since it's running so good.

The Woods TW6 is a great low end bolt in cam. You really dont need to bump up compression with them and you will feel the difference over the HD 203's. They will however work well with increased compression up to about 10.0:1. I have run them and they work well in a bagger with stock heads. You can get them in gear drive if you want.

Depends on what you do when you go to 103". I suggest you give each shop a call and ask specific questions on what you are planning on ding in the future and get their input on the limitations on the future modifications. Doug at HQ (or Kevin) and Bob Woods will take the time to talk with you and make recommendations. I dont have experience witht he HQ 500 so cannot comment , but I do know the TW6 is used quite a bit in the 103's with good results.

andrews 21Gs are milder than the 26Gs. the 21Gs are the closest to stock I have been able to find. i ran S&S 510Gs for about a year and could never get the bike to run right even with PCIII. changed to 21Gs and without the PCIII it runs great.

It was tough for me, but I just waited until I could to it all at once!
and it was totaly worth the wait.

I think if you stay around 10 to 1 comp. with the big bore you could go either way and be very happy.

I know HQ has had shops substitute their TC-500 cams for the SE 255 cams that come in theSE big bore kitsand have had great results.
